Ulli’s Oil Mill produces oils in the Austrian tradition from locally grown organic seeds. The seeds are cold-stored and stamp-pressed in small batches to create untreated and unfiltered seed oils of unparalleled freshness and flavor. Austrian Pumpkin Seed Oil: Styrian pumpkin seeds that produce this ionic Austrian oil are not available in the US. At least not yet, Ulli Sitter is working with Cornell University and local farmers with the goal of rectifying this! In the meantime, she imports organic pumpkin seeds from Austria and cold presses them in New York to produce a deep roasty nut flavored oil.
Ulli’s Seed Oils add a rich flavor boost to a wide array of dishes. Drizzle over pasta dishes, roasted fish, ramen bowls, mashed potatoes, risottos, steamed or grilled vegetables. Try them on pasta for a distinctive alternative to olive oil. Add ‘oomph’ to your salad dressings and drizzle into soups to add a depth of satisfying flavor.
Up-cycling: We up-cycle the residue of the oil pressing, known as ‘press cake’ — it is stone-milled and sieved to produce a vegan, nutty-flavored protein powder. Blend into your shakes, sprinkle on your cereal or yogurt for a tasty and powerful protein boost. Our Hemp powder for example has some 46% of protein.
