Dr. Evelyn Troester DeGraf is the founder and artistic director of GHOSTLIGHT Chorus, choral
director and cantor at Sacred Hearts & Saint Stephen Church in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, choir director at the German International School in White Plains, and adjunct assistant professor at Columbia University where she leads the Collegium Musicum ensemble. She has been sought after in both the United States and Europe as a voice instructor, guest-conductor, and teacher of masterclasses on choral improvisation. She continues to pioneer and share the advancement of performance through yoga and meditation practices.
Dr. DeGraf’s international performance career ranges from mezzo-soprano engagements at Lincoln Center to conducting choruses for the Rolling Stones at Barclays, Prudential, and Verizon Centers. In May 2016, she received the degree of Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from Teachers College, Columbia University, with her dissertation entitled “Rituals of Leadership: The Pre-Performance Practices of Renowned Choral Conductors.”
Evelyn lives in Mamaroneck with her husband, Galen, and their two daughters, Hedwig Belle and Lotte Sonja.
